Gozo Coastal Walks
Gozo is a great place to experience some beautiful walks enjoying spectacular landscapes. The Gozo ministry together with Eco Gozo developed a number of pleasant walking routes around this magical little island.
Mgarr Harbour To Xlendi Walk - Enjoy beautiful sea views, sea inlets, coastal watchtowers and the beatiful Ta Kantra valley. This walk is roughly 12km and is an approximate 5-6 hour walk or 1 hour if you are cycling.
Xlendi To San Lawrenz Walk - Walk through Dwjera Bay, the Inland Sea, enjoy views over Fungus Rock and explore the tranquil countryside and villages. This walk is 11km and is an approximate 4-5 hour walk or 45 minutes or so if you are cycling.
San Lawrenz To Marsalforn Walk - Walk along the coast and explore the salt pans, rural valleys and historical chapels and basilicas. This walk is another 11km and an approximate 4-5 hour walk or 1 hour if you are cycling. This walk is probably the easiest part of the route since there are no major inclines.
Marsalforn To Mgarr Walk - Experience stunning views, the calyspo cave, ramla il hamra and open valleys. This walk is the hardest part of the route with 4 major inclines, a 16km walk which would set you back some 6-7 hours if you are walking or 1 and a half hours if you are cycling.
The Gozo Coastal Walk is a 50 kilometre route, so its not made for everyone. It is particularly enjoyable in Spring and Autumn, having said that if you decide to take on the challenge in the Summer months then it is advisable to split the walk and start off early morning taking all the neccessary precautions.
