Sliema Art Festival
Every summer, the Sliema local council organises the Sliema Art Festival which usually takes place in mid July and starts on a Friday until the late hours of Sunday. During the festival numerous street artists paint modern art on billboards and some are retained for the duration of the summer on the promenade and on the rocky beaches on the Sliema front. Numerous artisan and food stalls are also set up along the promenade, making the area an ideal place for family gatherings of all walks of life. For the young at heart there are DJ's and live concerts going on from the early hours of the afternoon on the rocky beach and the public gardens. Sliema, as a locality together with its neighbour St Julian's are Malta's main coastal resorts. It is a centre for shopping, restaurants and cafe's life and a major commercial and residential area and houses several of Malta's most recent hotels. Tower Road is full of shops, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, Internet cafes, and day cruise boats.The road continues north to St. Julians and Paceville and southward towards the Strand Gzira, Ta Xbiex , Msida and Valletta.
