Things to Do In Malta

Malta is rich in its culture, history and sight-seeing and has much to offer whether in the form of ancient sites, museums, churches, bastions, historical cities,  archeological sites, flee markets, harbour cruises, religous processions, summer festas and more. Being an Island surrounded by the sea, water sports, yachting, and anything to do with the sea are also very popular amongst travellers to Malta with the main areas for these activities found in the sea side resorts of Mellieha, Sliema, St Julians and Valletta.

Let's start off with tha Old capital city - Mdina and the current capital city - Valletta, which is also nominated as the European capital of culture 2018. Visiting Mdina and Valletta late in the evening, during the dark hours is a completely different experience to visiting by day. You will appreciate the architecture and beauty of Malta's Capital and old Capital when the streets are not crowded. For Valletta, we suggest a visit to the upper barakka gardens which close to the public at around 2100hrs in order to enjoy the vista and beauty of the grand harbour and the bastions which are lit every evening with beautiful soft lighing. You may then make your way to one of the numerous wine bars and/or restauarants tucked away many pretty streets of Valletta, alternatively you may head towards the Valletta waterfront which is found at the bottom end of Valletta and the best way to get here is through Valletta's neighbouring town Floriana. Mdina is yet another picture altogether in the evening, its incredibly quiet by night and one could actually here a pin fall, thus its knick name 'the silent city'. Mdina also has a hanndful of restaurants and cafes as well as its neighbourring town 'Rabat' which is just 5 minutes away on foot. Both Rabat and Mdina are easily accessible by Taxi or public transport.

If you are more of an adrenalin junky then you can try rock climbing or deep sea diving which are more suited to those travellers with no fear of heights or the deep blue Mediterranean sea. Diving remains a big attraction in Malta and more recently Gozo, where numerous tourists visit the Islands specifically to dive, take on a PADI courses or get into technical diving. The Maltese seas are full of wrecks from the world wars I and II and include submarines, planes, destroyers, tankers and other numerous other war vessels. Here you will also find spectacular underwater topography and interesting marine life.

Over the years a wide range of other attractions have become very popular amongst which are the Marine Park where one can swim with bottlenose dolphins and interact with Sea Lions. The park is situated just next door to the Splash and Fun water park which is also a main attraction for kids wishing to experience the water slides.

Another very popular place to visit is the notorious Popeye Village found in Mellieha which is a great place for all the family especially kids. Popey village is situated along the sea and one can experience numerous activities depending on the time of year.
