Gozo Holidays

Gozo as holiday destination has over the years become a popular choice for traveller's who are looking for that something special. With only 37,000 inhabitants, Gozo is more laid back and relaxed with a slower pace of life than its larger neighbour Malta. Gozo is greener and more rural than Malta and you will notice their relaxed way of life from the minute you get off the Gozo Ferry in Mgarr. Note that there is no airport on the Island so visitors arrive to Gozo by ferry boat on the Gozo Channel line from Malta's northern most point (Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal) approximately every 45 minutes and with a crossing time of roughly 25 minutes.

Gozitans also have a distinct accent which you will note from the moment you make contact with the first Gozitan on this little island in The Mediterranean. The people from Gozo are very friendly and most have a good command of the English language especially those who work in the tourism related sectors such as hotels, self catering accommodation, restaurants, pubs and museums.

Gozo has a lot to offer in terms of holiday activities, with the most popular being scuba diving and sites that are considered to be amongst the best dive sites in the world due to historical wrecks in the area. Hiking, Quad Biking, Countryside Walks and Swimming are amongst the most popular activities on the Island, with numerous tourist offices offering a variety of things to do on Gozo.

The Gozitan coast has a variety of bays and beaches all commanding beautiful views. The most popular sandy beach in Gozo is probably Ramla Il Hamra beach, which is easily accessible by public transport and by car from Xaghra as well as Nadur. The sand in Ramla il Hamra is a red coarse sand and the beach itself is surrounded by a fertile valley. Prepare your camera on the way down to the beach where you can capture some fantastic photos on a clear day.  The beach is seviced by a few beach bars which serve food and drinks from 10 am in the morning until the late hours of the evening. Other popular beaches are Mgarr Ix Xini Bay, Dahlet Il Qorrot, Hondoq Ir Rummien and Marsalforn Bay.
